Around the estate
Eight simple ideas around Ptuj and Mestni Hill.
Walk the meadows, use the outdoor grill under the chestnut tree, or relax by the pool. No need to go anywhere.
Slovenia’s oldest town under the castle: streets, coffee by the Drava, a slow afternoon. Back on the hill before dark.
Map →One of the region’s great cellars, under the town. Tours and tastings — check times and book yourself if you want a seat.
Map →Shore walks, birds, open water. In summer you can swim; year-round the path around the lake is an easy reset.
Map →Thermal pools and saunas when you want warmth and water without a long trip. Day tickets are available on site.
Map →South of Ptuj: winding roads, cellars, long views. Drive yourself and stop where a door is open for tasting.
Map →A small wine village on the terraces above Ormož — one of the prettiest drives in the area. Church, views, a glass if a cellar is open.
Map →Slovenia’s second city: Lent by the river, the Old Vine House, shops and a proper restaurant day when you want town energy.
Map →Prefer to stay put? The grill and the views are enough of a plan.
Enquire to stayGood to know
If something is not here, put it in your enquiry — we answer every one personally.
Each house has five bedrooms. Booked together as the entire estate, Mestni Hill comfortably takes more than ten guests. Tell us your group size in your enquiry and we will confirm the layout that works for you.
Yes. The Villa and the Barn House can be booked separately or together as the entire estate — the usual choice for larger families, reunions and celebrations. Choose Entire estate in the enquiry form.
No. You rent a whole house. There is no reception and no shared corridors. Only the outdoor grill and smoker are shared, and only if the other house happens to be booked by a different party at the same time.
The pool belongs to the Villa and is private to Villa guests. The Barn House has its own private balcony instead. Both houses share the outdoor grill and smoker under the chestnut tree.
Rates depend on the house, your dates, the size of your group and the season, so every stay is quoted personally rather than listed. Send an enquiry with your dates and we reply with a written offer.
Ptuj is about ten minutes down the hill by car: the castle, the old town, the Drava and the wine cellars. Graz is roughly an hour away and Zagreb about an hour and a half, which makes both convenient arrival airports.
Minimum stay varies with the season and with the house, and is longest over peak summer weeks and holidays. Send your dates in an enquiry and we will confirm what is possible together with your offer.
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 10:00. Where you can, tell us your arrival time at least 24 hours ahead — we meet you at the house with the keys, so there are no desk hours to work around. Later departure is sometimes possible if agreed in advance.
Slovenian rules require every guest to show valid ID on arrival for tourist registration (eTurizem / AJPES). Tourist tax is charged per person per night as set locally.
Children are very welcome — both are family houses, not show homes. Dogs are possible by prior written agreement, so please mention them in your enquiry rather than on arrival.
Indoors is entirely non-smoking, and quiet hours run from 22:00 to 08:00. That shapes what suits the estate: a milestone birthday, an anniversary or a family reunion fits perfectly — a loud late party does not.
Wi-fi covers both houses. The pool is outdoors and belongs to the Villa, so it is a warm-season pleasure rather than a year-round one — ask for your dates and we will tell you exactly what to expect.
An enquiry is not yet a booking. Once we have sent an offer and you accept it, a 30% deposit within three business days confirms the stay, and the remaining 70% is due 14 days before arrival. Booking inside 14 days means the full amount on confirmation.
Cancellation terms and everything else are set out in full on our terms page.
